THE REVIEW

What do you think, I fell for that story of "wish you were here" too...
Just the other day, in a small village in Liguria, in one of those little bars with golden light white wine...
By the second prosecco, that cheat started...
Do you think I didn't feel a thrill?...I was sixteen once too...
And that rambling about the crazy diamond...that endless stream of guitar banality, that psychedelia that turns into lounge music acceptable for everyone...acceptable for me too then...
But damn, is this the Floyd?
However, even there, I fall for it a little, silencing the incredible taste, the fabulous refinement I've developed over the years...
How the hell do you dare, damn Floyd, to threaten my splendor?
But it's only for a moment that after five or six minutes I can’t stand it anymore...it's truly awful music...
And I fool you, I catch you yet again, damn architects...
And I don’t forgive you, I can’t forgive you...
How the hell did you dare associate Syd, my Syd, with this crap?
How many damn minutes does it last? All this time without flair, without anything unexpected...
Syd flickered like a little fish, screeched like a tone-deaf bird, he was all instinct, grace, and madness...
Instinct, grace, and madness—the things I seek in life...life itself...
I'm still here listening, what's that damn saxophone?...then it's definitely cocktail music...
Syd was white wine at noon in a shabby little bar with the bartender with a size eight bra...
Like the waitress at L'Auberge Vert, the one that even excited Rimbaud, usually quite cold...
But in your damn bars, there are only dried-up asses...
And yet, and yet...
And yet there's a painful note...
"Welcome to the Machine," which closes side one if I remember correctly, I still like today...
I risked expulsion from the Barrettian sect for this...what saved me was that the great mogul, vizier...
the supreme scarecrow...
the great king of fantasy...
the most excellent being spoke well on my behalf...
Maybe he also passed by that bar with golden light white wine...and, for a moment, defenseless, he succumbed to that wish you were here...

Summary by Bot

This review offers an emotional and conflicted perspective on Pink Floyd's 'Wish You Were Here'. While appreciating touches like 'Welcome to the Machine', the reviewer struggles with the album's perceived lack of originality and flair, especially compared to Syd Barrett's unique artistic spirit. It's both a reflection on personal nostalgia and critical disappointment.

A few words on the matter are necessary to describe five tracks of rare perfection, of pure psychedelia.

When the stereo starts playing, it becomes clear why this album is a true milestone in the history of rock.

Pink Floyd, what are they? They are a ray of sunshine in a messy room.

Only when you hear the four notes of 'Shine On' do you understand... that you have arrived... and have only just begun.

Pink Floyd has never let us down.

Tell me, isn’t this the real music?

"Wish You Were Here can be defined as a concept album about absence: of the word, but also of the individual and thought."

"Pink Floyd were, are, and always will be the group that achieved pure perfection, both musically and ‘textually’."

By SydBarrett

It was as if he had never left the group; indeed, he hovered like a ghost, bringing sad memories that then influenced, more or less, the songs and themes of Pink Floyd.

A masterpiece, giving chills even today, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful songs of all time.
