Pink Floyd are an English rock band formed in Cambridge in 1965, known for pioneering progressive and psychedelic rock and for landmark albums such as The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here and The Wall.

Formed in 1965, early lineup included Syd Barrett, Nick Mason, Roger Waters and Richard Wright; David Gilmour joined in 1968. The band is widely known for studio innovation, concept albums and large-scale live productions; Syd Barrett's early contributions and later departure are central to the group's early story.
