I must state that I am not a fan of Pink Floyd, I cannot understand their art at all, perhaps because I don't know them well, despite having listened to many of their albums. Probably it’s not the type of music suited for me.
That said, I wanted to say a word in honor of this album, which, despite being one of the group's best, in my opinion, has been very overrated.
I think that many other artists have conducted far more daring experiments than those of the acclaimed Pink Floyd, even in eras preceding the making of the album. I also think of the experiments of the same Pink Floyd in Ummagumma (which I respect, but do not appreciate)… I know a lot of criticism will rain down on me, but that's how I feel. The experiments in Money and the famous Time honestly don't seem like much to me…
However, this album deserves to enter the music hall of fame solely for three amazing inventions, which according to me, don’t strictly have anything to do with music… First and foremost, the great interpretation of Clare Torry in "The great gig in the sky"… epochal! Then the celebrated final phrase under the hammering of the heart: "There is no dark side of the moon really, matter of fact it’s all dark"… unsettling! But above all, according to me, if there hadn’t been the crazy and hallucinated laugh of Syd Barrett, the album wouldn't have been the same! For me, "The dark side of the moon" is only that laugh that opens the album in a crescendo of sounds and bursts like a flash of madness into Gilmour's beautiful guitar piece in Brain Damage…
More than a review, it was meant to be an expression… I don't have the expertise to review Pink Floyd… Now I await the criticisms…
THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON is one of the top 5 most important albums in rock history.
An album that, more than an album, is undoubtedly a work of art in rock.
Madness, suffocation, excitement, fear, relaxation, adrenaline, and pleasure blend almost imperceptibly in this thing called an "album".
I gave this album 0 because 5 is too little.
It would be a crime to listen to the album in pieces.
The texture of the music is rich in detail, and at the same time light, smooth, and it creates an environment, an atmosphere around you.
I take my mind to distant places. And I feel the madness, finally.
Don’t tell me anymore that I am sane, the dark side of the moon changes everyone.
An album is great when it belongs to Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd, or the Doors.
Amidst soft and unsettling tones, the journey unfolds of The Dark Side Of The Moon, which still ranks among the best-selling albums, 33 years later.
