THE REVIEW

What was rock? When was the apotheosis of purely psychedelic atmospheres and emotions full of mystery reached? The answer lies with PINK FLOYD, who in 1973 released THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON: a masterpiece. An exceptional record for which the cover alone is worth the purchase. They likely hit the mark. Even today, 30 years after its release, THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON is one of the top 5 most important albums in rock history. The album's introduction couldn't have been better, expressed by SPEAK TO ME & BREATHE IN THE AIR.

But to reach the first explosion of glory, you have to wait for track number 3: TIME. 7:06 of dreamy sounds and words introduced by a blaring alarm clock. Right after is THE GREAT GIG IN THE SKY, practically a female choir singing to the notes of our idols. Beautiful. Slightly more pop is MONEY, which more than the sounds (the essential jingle of coins and the sound of a cash register) makes the words matter (unlike Pink Floyd's usual style). Another masterpiece is US AND THEM, slow and irritably almost boring at the start, spiced up by a goosebump-inducing chorus. The 2 minutes and 4 seconds of ECLIPSE finally close an album that, more than an album, is undoubtedly a work of art in rock.

It's impossible to choose who to recommend it to. Anyone who loves rock cannot be a true enthusiast if they've never listened to THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON. From a mystical English band, which now seems a bit lost with the departure of Waters, a genius and ego too erratic and in parallel contrast with that of the other guitarist not much loved by fans: that David Gilmour who, however, continues to be considered the leader of Pink Floyd. What the real soul of the band was is still impossible to determine. And if it were Syd Barrett..?

Madness, suffocation, excitement, fear, relaxation, adrenaline, and pleasure blend almost imperceptibly in this thing called an "album".

I gave this album 0 because 5 is too little.

It would be a crime to listen to the album in pieces.

The texture of the music is rich in detail, and at the same time light, smooth, and it creates an environment, an atmosphere around you.

I take my mind to distant places. And I feel the madness, finally.

Don’t tell me anymore that I am sane, the dark side of the moon changes everyone.

An album is great when it belongs to Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd, or the Doors.

Amidst soft and unsettling tones, the journey unfolds of The Dark Side Of The Moon, which still ranks among the best-selling albums, 33 years later.

Can’t you hear it’s ancient stuff from hippies and stylistically outdated?

Those 4-minute solos made with 5 notes are ridiculous, which denotes a characteristic of the band: they don’t know how to play...
