Picking up the brilliant idea of @[Alemarcon] who picked up the brilliant idea of @[Martello], I allow myself, as a further kick in the... ahem, sneak preview of the columns that will start in a week, to create a ranking of the worst albums by Antonello Venditti (from 1991 to 2015, excluding "Dalla pelle al cuore" from 2007), from the least unbearable to the peak of absolute diarrhea.

N°1: "Goodbye Novecento" (1999)
And here we are at the gem. The grand vizier of all the horrible records by Venditti. The apotheosis of all the crap he has pushed onto the market from '91 to today: "Goodbye Novecento", a farewell to the millennium now at the dawn of its sunset. It’s an album that tries to depart from its predecessors, using more guitar arrangements and fewer electronic ones, striving to give a new "turn," moving (or rather, trying to move) from sentimental trinkets (which he had cozy-ed up to for a decade) to reflective and engaged themes. Successful result? Of course not! In fact, it manages to be even worse than the previous two albums, which at least, despite being of a very low general level, started off as pop without too many pretensions... and if the supposed engaged songs are things like the title track, "In questo mondo che non puoi capire," or "Fianco a fianco," then I much prefer "Ogni volta" and various atrocities. But the point is that this album also contains the most syrupy, vulgar, and unbearable love song, not only of Antonello but probably of the entire Italian singer-songwriter scene...

The masterwork of the album: Che tesoro che sei

Yesterday, thanks to Hammer, you were spared the last two parts... this time you won’t escape!

Taking up the brilliant idea of
@[Alemarcon] to revisit@[Martello]'s genius concept, I dare to make, as a further kick in the balls... erm, a preview of the columns that will start in a week, a ranking of the worst albums by Antonello Venditti (from 1991 to 2015, excluding "Dalla pelle al cuore" from 2007) from the least unbearable to the pinnacle of absolute diarrhea.

N°2: "Prendilo tu questo frutto amaro" (1995)
Ah, 1995. Ah, the year of "Io per lei," "Le ragazze fanno grandi sogni"... a rosy time for Italian singer-songwriter music! This marks Venditti's second consecutive abomination, but it turns out to be thirty times worse than the previous one! The title doesn’t bode well, but the album is even worse. Shitty rhymes that wouldn’t even make the earliest Baglioni proud, melodies that seem arranged in Bontempi style, lyrics bordering on indecency, and I’ll add an awful cover as well. Back then, I thought to myself, “This is beyond any existing physical conception! It’s IMPOSSIBLE for it to get worse!” Poor deluded soul...
