Let’s start not with the first, in the sense of prime movers, but with the most important. Because this has undoubtedly been the Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare: the most important group in the history of Neapolitan popular (or shall we call it folk) music.
A very long story, which began in 1967 with a young boy who attended a show of the ILVA after-work club with his school, where three brothers performed among others...
It's a story of encounters and intertwining stories and experiences, of fortunate events, and of a city that is bubbling over.
Naples, the whore that has given herself to a hundred lovers (Greeks, Normans, Spaniards, Arabs, French, Germans...), Naples the porous city that absorbs everything, bubbling with the lava of Vesuvius and reconciled by the sea, Naples is a city of a thousand musics and, for over 50 years, the NCCP has sung all those musics.

I keep fishing from the dust of my old CDs. We are in #UK in #2014, a really nice album, drawing heavily from the past #canterbury, the last #prog colored #pop while maintaining a fresh modernity. I suppose it would be great live at outdoor festivals attended by neo freaks. I recommended it upon its release and I continue to #recommend it today.
