shining blade - freakish footsteps - 1986 italy
Hidden gem of Italian heavy metal! A great example of the Whitesnake/Scorpions sound mixed with vague hints of neo prog in the style of Marillion.

A not exhaustive journey into the extraordinary Neapolitan musical heritage.

Era de maggio - Roberto Murolo

However, if we wanted to be serious and start from the beginning, we couldn't help but begin with "Napoletana" by Roberto Murolo.
Murolo began it in 1963 and reached volume 12; in "Napoletana," he collects practically everything from 1200 to 1965, but it doesn’t stop there. His interpretation (just voice and guitar), dry, essential, and elegantly simple, becomes the "canon" for all those songs: from now on, others can interpret, vary, and elaborate, but will always have to reckon with the "originals" of Murolo. Everyone! Including Sergio Bruni, who will try in every way to position himself as Murolo's counterpart (also due to a voice that is much richer in shades and nuances) without succeeding.
Murolo is the Woody Guthrie of Neapolitan song!
