For now, I notice that on Deb, rightly so, seminal or otherwise important albums that celebrate their 30th anniversary are being highlighted. Among these, it seems right to include Stars by Simply Red. An essential cornerstone of those first 5 impeccable albums (from the first to Life). Almost entirely recorded in Italy, it was Mick and his mates' most revolutionary album. The distinctive elements of their sound were enhanced by the sampled percussion of new member Gota. This is also an album that owes a lot to the recently deceased Fritz McIntyre. His keyboards are a pivotal foundation for everything else. Here’s a docufilm about the making of Stars.
