12.Volume 1 Here’s a record where perhaps the classics are somewhat scarce but still remains at incredibly high levels. The opening track, Preghiera in gennaio, is truly moving and at times unsettling, with the angelic memory of Tenco adding even more pathos to the piece. Following are small prophecies for future projects (Si chiamava Gesù, which already slightly anticipates the concept of La buona novella), stylish melodies like Spiritual but mostly great classics: Via del Campo, also known for a mentioned plagiarism of a (much lesser, I add) piece by Jannacci and Fo, Bocca di rosa which I believe needs no further words, and Carlo Martello ritorna dalla battaglia di Poiters, a rather comical/goliardic piece that surely evoked laughter. The rest of the album struggles to keep pace with these tracks, dropping a few good insights in Marcia nuziale and La morte and a couple of still too immature pieces (La canzone di Barbara). As a debut, it is definitely successful, but the artist will manage to do better. Picky rating: 8 and a half The gem among gems: Via del campo
