THE REVIEW

The title of the first song from his first album is "Preghiera in gennaio". The title of the last song from his last album is "Smisurata Preghiera". Fabrizio died in January, that Ninetta mia crepare di maggio ci vuole tanto troppo coraggio, Ninetta bella dritto all'inferno avrei preferito andarci d'inverno.

The first song of his first record is also one of his most beautiful, moving, touching, definitely "inspired". The suicide (?) of a friend, an artist like him, a pure soul, Luigi Tenco...

Hey, are you the one going around saying that you wrote "Quando"???

Yes!

And why?

To catch some chicks!

They met like that... Two timeless, ageless men who were wise beyond their 30 years, already elevated.

Fabrizio's debut on LP. leaves you speechless, a ball of fiery copper in your stomach, you swallow bitterly and the tears demand a breath of air.

Better than him no one
would guide you to
our collective mistakes
that you can and want to save.

Listen to his voice
which now sings in the wind
God of mercy
you’ll see, you’ll be happy.

Fabrizio talks confidentially with God and tells Him that a man will show Him the way to follow, a man who will make Him happy, but he doesn't do it out of conceit, blasphemy, or simply to be "against". He does it because he thinks it, because he believes in it, he does it because it is right.

Fabrizio humanizes God just as a few years later he humanizes in "La Buona Novella" the protagonists of the New Testament non fossi stato figlio di Dio saresti ancora figlio mio...

His calm, smooth, solemn voice, devoid of emphasis or any kind of strain, "forces" you to listen.

Everything has been said, those who know FDA are well aware of his poetics, what themes he dealt with, what his "point of view" was, what his musical journey was. I highlight this record for those who want to approach him, for those who do not know him well. In this album, there is "Bocca di Rosa" the song, in his own words, to which he was most attached and that in some ways represented him the best. The track is famous and is a masterpiece, a joy of writing, a fluency, the beginning and the end of a story (that will repeat) told in two words and again better than him no one even though this time it's Fabrizio and not Luigi and for other reasons :)

Then there's "Via del Campo" another famous track, another gem…a flower that grows from manure.

I greet you and... what did Lucio Battisti's spirit (LOL) say to that medium who then talked to Mogol who in turn wrote "L'arcobaleno" sung by Celentano?

Always and only listen to true music

and always try if you can to understand

This is an incontrovertible principle of faith.

At the bottom of every De André song there is always the human.
