Robert William Gary, genuine Irishman
Despite being left-handed, his father encouraged him to play right-handed (he understood why...) and for this reason, at the age of 14, he gifted him his first acoustic guitar.
His mentor was Peter Allen Greenbaum, that is, the very Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac, who when he left the band sold him his '59 Les Paul Standard for just 100 pounds.
It is said that Moore later sold the guitar in 2006 for a whopping 1,300,000 dollars, and it now belongs to Kirk Hammett of Metallica.
He dedicated his '95 album to Green, aptly titled "Blues for Greeny", playing it with that same Les Paul.
At sixteen, he founded his first experimental rock blues band.
Professionally, "Skid Row" made such an impression in Dublin that they were invited to open for Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac concerts, a tremendous honor for my beloved (and since lost for 8 years) Gary, and here one of the many circles related to this great guitarist comes to a close...
