Lovecraft codified and perfected Hodgson’s visions, creating, with “cosmic horror,” a true literary genre connected to science fiction but that, at the same time, lives a life of its own.

For Poe, terror comes from the soul, but for Lovecraft, it stems from Cosmic Chaos.

Sandro Fossemò’s essay thoroughly examines the connections and distinctions between Edgar Allan Poe's and H.P. Lovecraft’s visions of cosmic terror. Fossemò highlights Poe’s Romantic idealism and Lovecraft's materialistic mythology, showing how Lovecraft evolved the concept into 'horrific science fiction.' The essay also explores philosophical influences and lesser-known authors impacting Lovecraft’s work. It ultimately affirms the lasting relevance of both writers’ approaches to cosmic horror. Delve into this fascinating essay to discover how Poe and Lovecraft shaped cosmic terror in horror literature.

Bardo Thos Grol from 1987 ... is undoubtedly a peculiar album; it is one of the best works of the first phase and, in my opinion, it is their masterpiece.

The atmospheres are esoteric and sacred and reminded me of the Popol Vuh of 'In Den Garten Pharaos' at least in terms of intensity.

Sigillum S's 1987 album Bardo Thos-Grol is a cornerstone of Italian post-industrial music. The album blends Tibetan traditional instruments and vocal rituals to create a sacred, meditative atmosphere influenced heavily by Current 93. Praised as a masterpiece of their early phase, the album establishes Sigillum S's originality in the esoteric-industrial scene. It remains available on Bandcamp and is highly recommended for fans of ritualistic and spiritual experimental music. Explore and immerse yourself in the haunting ritual soundscape of Sigillum S's Bardo Thos-Grol now on Bandcamp!

The purpose of this book is therefore to remember the site, its authors, its contents, and give those who did not have the chance to visit and know it between 1997 and 2001 the opportunity to see what it looked like.

Reading the book, I can confirm the material is of excellent quality (such a site would truly be needed even now).

The Arkham Page: Philology of a Disappeared Site revisits the first Italian fan website dedicated to H.P. Lovecraft active from 1997 to 2001. The book preserves the site's rich content, highlighting its depth and scholarly value. It celebrates the pioneers of Italian Lovecraft fandom and their lasting influence. The review praises the volume for offering both nostalgia and historical insight into early online fandom. It hopes for the site's revival amid a flourishing contemporary 'weird' culture in Italy. Dive into the rich history of Italian Lovecraft fandom with The Arkham Page – a must-read for every Lovecraft enthusiast!

You certainly had to be a bit crazy to release at that time a long, liquid, and lysergic suite.

"Let Me Play The Sitar" is almost an aesthetic and ideological manifesto of their interests leading them towards the East evoked by Hermann Hesse in Siddhartha.

No Strange's 1985 debut album Trasparenze e suoni stands out as a bold and eclectic psychedelic work amidst the cold new wave era. Combining influences from beat, krautrock, Italian prog, and garage-punk, it offers a meditative and expansive sound. The album features a notable 20-minute suite and thematic exploration inspired by Eastern philosophy and 60s atmospheres. Its original release included unique psychedelic packaging, adding to its cult appeal. Dive into No Strange's vibrant psychedelic debut and experience the sound of 80s Italian psych-rock revival!

The Damned Village That Smelled of Fish, in particular, will undoubtedly capture the imagination of H.P. Lovecraft fans.

Torello hits the mark again... he succeeds in engaging the reader with perhaps conventional but nonetheless highly effective devices.

Ivo Torello’s 'The Damned Village That Smelled of Fish' is the strongest installment in the Ulysse Bonamy series. Set in a mysterious 1920s French village, it skillfully blends Lovecraftian horror and an original narrative style. The novel features a compelling detective journey that honors classic weird fiction while delivering a fresh story. Fans of H.P. Lovecraft and occult detectives will find much to enjoy here. Explore the eerie, Lovecraft-inspired world of Ulysse Bonamy—read Ivo Torello’s thrilling new mystery now!

The music is dark and para-religious, taking us into infernal realms.

Nature Unveiled shines with a dark and esoteric aura that has not yet waned.

One of the most incredible pieces of Italian music takes off: the rhythm is metronomic and of the German school (Neu!) with a pulsating, obsessive, and pounding bass.

Violet Art Of Improvisation is a record of great music beyond possible classifications (psychedelia? experimentation? doom? gothic-rock?).

Paul Chain's Violet Art of Improvisation is a landmark 1989 double album blending psychedelic, cosmic, and gothic influences into a unique Italian prog masterpiece. The first record features long, improvisational tracks with hypnotic rhythms and surreal soundscapes, inspired by krautrock and Klaus Schulze. The second disc contains more structured yet atmospheric songs spanning dark-wave, folk, and electronic styles. This album defies easy classification and showcases Paul Chain’s innovative and visionary artistry. Dive into Paul Chain's enigmatic Violet Art of Improvisation and experience a legendary journey through psychedelic and cosmic soundscapes.

"Heal" immerses us in a timeless dimension where time seems to have stopped.

The Strange Flowers, a veteran psychedelic band from Pisa, offer a vibrant homage to 60s psych-pop with their album 'Songs For Imaginary Movies.'  Every completed work — and this one is no exception — should first and foremost explain itself: with its virtues and flaws that each perceives and evaluates in their own way.

Musically, the group approaches a sort of retro-flavored singer-songwriter style between Paolo Conte and Jacques Brel.

Aurora is Ain Soph's best-selling album, marking a significant shift from esoteric industrial noise to a more melodic, retro singer-songwriter style. The album explores themes of tradition, history, and political upheaval, drawing inspiration from specific historical events and texts. While some fans felt betrayed musically, the album is praised for its storytelling and standout tracks, especially those sung in French. Vocals and simplicity of compositions are noted as some flaws amid its unique style. Discover the unique blend of history and melody in Ain Soph's Aurora - listen now and explore its deep themes!

The voice, however, is weak and too strained, even if the interpretation partially compensates for these shortcomings.

Ultimately, perhaps there are no exciting compositional peaks, although the album is not to be despised.

Mythology's album The Castle Of Crossed Destinies is a dark progressive rock work inspired by 70s iconography and Italo Calvino's literature. The music features doom guitars and jazzy moments reminiscent of Van Der Graaf Generator. While the compositions show promise, the strained vocals detract from the overall impact. Fans of Black Widow and Atomic Rooster will find this album intriguing despite its flaws. Discover the mysterious soundscape of Mythology’s The Castle Of Crossed Destinies—listen now and explore vintage prog rock vibes!
