Chris Letchford, one of the brightest virtuosos in today’s metal scene, often showcases first-rate guitar technique, which almost never devolves into mere exhibition and is generally kept in service of the music. The Migration is an honest album of post-rock masquerading as metal — a musical journey that doesn’t require too much analysis.

Scale The Summit's fourth album, The Migration, continues the post-rock-inspired post-metal style of their previous work without major evolution. The band demonstrates maturity by moving beyond rigid song structures, delivering an album with compositional peaks and valleys. Chris Letchford’s guitar work and Mark Michell’s bass lines stand out, supported by clean mixing. While not groundbreaking, the album offers a pleasant, light listening experience and showcases technical skill. Explore The Migration by Scale The Summit for a masterful blend of post-rock ambiance and progressive metal technique.
The album proves to lack a truly original approach; it ultimately comprises things already heard multiple times. A pleasant album ... but one that, after a short time, fades completely from the listener’s memory.

Exivious' self-titled album offers a highly technical, jazz-infused metal experience with ties to former Cynic and Pestilence members. Despite impressive musicianship, it lacks originality and memorable songwriting. The album is a well-crafted but ultimately uninspiring exercise in style for fans of complex metal genres. It rewards repeated listens but tends to fade quickly from memory. Discover Exivious for a technically impressive, jazz-infused metal journey—listen now and decide if complexity meets creativity for you!
If you are in the mood for dark atmospheres that are rarely suffocating, suddenly mysterious and immediately aggressive and pressing, the gem of the young Nero di Marte... will not leave you indifferent. The album is excellent for the quality of the execution and the originality sought not so much in the structures, but in creating a dark and oppressive atmosphere...

Nero di Marte's album Derivae delivers a dark and atmospheric post-metal experience. Drawing inspiration from giants like Ulcerate and Cult of Luna, it blends aggressive and quiet moments with a unique sludge influence. The band's originality shines in the atmospheric depth more than structural innovation. The Italian vocals surprisingly recall Gianna Nannini, adding a distinctive touch. Overall, Derivae is a standout work in the contemporary Italian metal scene. Listen to Nero di Marte's Derivae and immerse yourself in one of Italy's darkest post-metal masterpieces.
I can’t help but convey my enthusiasm for what seems to me to be one of the best progressive metal albums in a long time. The only real criticism of this excellent work is the rather anonymous artwork that goes unnoticed and doesn’t seem to be in great harmony with the album’s content.

While influenced by djent and artists like Animals as Leaders, the album brings fresh and unconventional ideas. Minor criticisms include programmed drum sounds and unremarkable artwork. Overall, the album promises a bright future for Zytecki and progressive metal fans.
