Oswald has developed a 'dark star' to the nth degree, ultimate, deriving it from over a hundred original performances.

If you want to escape the miserable reality that oppresses us, give this work a chance.

John Oswald's Grayfolded is an ambitious two-CD tribute to the Grateful Dead's legendary track 'Dark Star.' Using over a hundred original live performances, the album creates a seamless, mesmerizing sound collage. This experimental work blends melodic, dissonant, and droning elements, capturing the psychedelic spirit of the original while expanding it significantly. Although not an official Dead release, it stands as a loving and hypnotic homage for fans and adventurous listeners. Dive into Grayfolded's dreamlike journey and rediscover the legendary Dark Star transformed by John Oswald's unique vision.

A band with its unusual trio formation: abrasive alto sax/vocals, syncopated electric guitar/trombone(!) and funky drumming.

Surely a most original music, which I believe cannot be compared to any other. I find it exhilarating!

This review pays tribute to the underrated band Blurt and their live album 'In Berlin.' With a unique trio setup featuring alto sax, offbeat guitar, and funky drumming, their music offers a distinctive free jazz experience. Although not for everyone, the album is highly recommended for adventurous listeners. The review highlights the band's originality and memorable sound. Listen to Blurt's 'In Berlin' for a bold and original free jazz adventure!
