Dream Theater Systematic Chaos

Damn muse91, you really mentioned some niche artists that only a true music aficionado would know: PFM, AREA, PINK FLOYD, YES, RUSH. All bands I've never heard of, I wonder how you managed to find them... Well, I forgive you because you're only 16 (at least I assume so given your nickname). Anyway, check out Rock Bottom and Third as Lux suggests, so you can start to grasp the vast difference with "Systematic Chaos."

But damn it, why do all DT fans always say the same things? "You are nobody compared to them! They are masters of technique!" and especially "if you don’t understand their music then go listen to Tiziano Ferro/Gigi D'Alessio/etc..." You must be quite sad if the comparisons you can make are always and only these, and especially since they are comments born from pure musical ignorance. But before making hasty judgments, listen to at least 1 cent of the great artists from the '90s (just to start) and you will see that the DT are not that untouchable.
Isis In The Absent Of Truth

I also think that Isis are currently one of the biggest and most important groups on the planet. The album is different from Panopticon but just as brilliant and profound.
Joel Coen Il Grande Lebowski (1998)

Among my 5 favorite films. The story is truly brilliant, the characters are great, the plot, the dialogues, the ridiculous situations, the soundtrack. "Is this your assignment, Larry?"..."I'm going to find an ATM"..."score zero! You're about to enter a valley of tears"..."I don't like you wandering around my neighborhood, with your half-ass face, your half-ass clothes, your half-ass manners, and I don't like you, half-ass!"..."National Socialism was better; at least it had an ethos behind it"...
Labradford Mi Media Naranja

Spatial ambiance with flashes of western guitars, strings, and post-rock psychedelia in abundance? I'm not rambling, it's all right here... Mi Media Naranja. Fascinating to say the least, the soundtrack of a nighttime journey through the Arizona desert. And in the end, that song... "P" that pulls you into a phosphorescent whirlpool and doesn't let go, but deep down, you don’t even want to be let go...

Disturbing, cosmic, and melancholic: one of the best examples of post-rock-ambient ever. This is art!
Third Ear Band Third Ear Band
Voto:
Third Ear Band is a great masterpiece, definitely among the best albums of the '70s. With "Air," you travel far away to mysterious lands, while in "Earth," the ethnic vibes take center stage with a truly unique charm. "Fire" is perhaps the most successful piece, transporting you directly into the midst of psychedelic dances by a large bonfire in the depths of black Africa; finally, "Water" is the tranquil concluding journey that brings you back home. 5 stars without a doubt.
Kayo Dot Dowsing Anemone With Copper Tongue

A record like this is not easily found, unconventional, quite fascinating and disorienting... a lost shore in the boundless rock landscape. I would say we can talk about originality even though in the post-rock realm there are vaguely similar instances (GYBE, etc...). @geenoo: I find your definition "muffa da sottobosco" to be quite a bold assertion regarding this masterpiece, I would appreciate it if you could explain the reason behind your 3 (assuming you have listened to it).

There’s only one word to describe the music of these clowns: diarrhea!
DragonForce Sonic Firestorm

This band is pure crap, even when limited to the already flat power metal genre. I feel like shoving the double bass pedal down the drummer's throat. Musical quality: absolute zero.
