Genesis The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway

Collins is a great drummer and an excellent singer, as well as the jerk who, with the worldwide success of his whiny songs from a cuckolded husband (his first solo album), convinced the other two in the band that it was more rewarding to make pop songs rather than jamming in 7/8 time. Gabriel is a less "natural" singer than Collins (who started singing in public as a child and was already on stage while Gabriel was still just singing in his bedroom), with a magnificent, theatrical, and intense voice, though of limited range and less than stellar pitch. Collins is technically a more gifted musician than Gabriel, who is undoubtedly deeper and more captivating, more personal and courageous, a greater man, in short. The fact that Collins started singing seriously "as an adult" and is a drummer has nothing to do with it. Even James Brown was a drummer.
Rory Gallagher Deuce

Thank you all. I guess you’ll be getting into "Irish Tour"... "Walk On Hot Coals" is indeed pure magic. I had the fortune to see Gallagher on stage in Bologna in 1982. On that same stage, two days earlier, the Police... and two days later, Frank Zappa (with Steve Vai) on that same stage at the Bologna fair! Good evening!

Fortunately, I am very aware of it.

Alright, Hetzer. You know a lot about Genesis. I suffer alongside you from the painful evolution of such a brilliant band.

Among my absolute favorites.
The Doors L.A. Woman
Voto:
The "chief" of the Doors, in the sense of the musical director, the composer, was Ray Manzarek, a brilliant musician but lacking personal charisma. Jim was the great singer and the great man and the "cool guy" and the visionary and the destabilizer and the "dangerous" one for the establishment. The Doors therefore had more than enough right to try to move on without Morrison, but they should have found another "animal" like him, and in any case, it would never have been the same...
Lino e i Mistoterital Bravi Ma Basta
Voto:
Lino and the Mistoterital are part of that small musical iceberg formed in Bologna, the tip of which was represented by the Skiantos. Influenced by the modest national success of the latter, in the 1980s, practically every little band in Bologna felt it was their duty to dive into the absurd. A crucial step was to find the "right" name for the group, so we had Persiana Jones and the Tapparelle Maledette, Confusional Jazz Rock Quartet, Habemus Papam, Lino & i Mistoterital, Nonna Fausta Blues Band, Giorgio Bassi and i Sudati, and so on, all accompanied by nonsensical lyrics, with a creativity worthy of a better cause.
The Eagles Their Greatest Hits, 1972-75

See that the answer is not easy to give, Dave. You are explaining the success of the Eagles in general, not that of this collection compared to their regular albums.
King Crimson In The Court Of The Crimson King

Antonio, Tamax's intervention is dry and incisive, but not therefore haughty or authoritarian. Words, when they appear in black and white in written form, always carry a lot of weight and have a strong effect on those who read them and are deeply engaged with the subject to which they refer. This is one of your all-time favorite albums, and you are not willing to tolerate blunt denials. Tamax has not been diplomatic, but neither has he been rude; he has the freedom to say what he thinks, even in a brusque manner. In fact, he underscored the historical significance and innovation of the album (in his opening words), noted the parts he found too "cerebral" (Moonchild) or "normal" (Talk To The Wind) according to his taste, and only made a pointed remark claiming that nearly everyone, upon reaching Moonchild, leaps forward to "Court"... nothing so blasphemous. For all prog lovers, this album is important (and it can’t not be, damn it), but for many of them, it's not among the most successful, or among the most listened to, or among the most revered, that's all.

I don't share your views. This is a pure prog album, and that's it. Prog is a very broad genre; it's not essential to talk about goblins and ancient relics to make prog... Gabriel is a great voice with great charisma but lacks technique; Collins has more... Genesis held up great without Gabriel until they decided to do something else (Hackett excluded)... I'll stop here.
