In this record, there are progressive "residues." Like in Asia, for example. In "Breakfast in America," there are none at all, instead. I recommend listening for those who have a very commercial idea of the band for having only heard their stuff from the late '70s to the '80s.

Chesiaroccia, I don't know the album, so I didn't vote for it. I just wanted to share my thoughts on the review, the man, and the respect I do NOT think he deserves, in contrast to the first comment.

Beautiful review as always, Hetzer. You’re right to say that Howe's guitar sounds a bit (too) harsh. It's the only flaw of the album. After the brilliant "Close..." and the "muffled"... "Oceans," here Eddie Offord had equalized a bit too much on the highs. You’re wrong, though, to say that Anderson is the absolute monarch of "Soon..."; Howe's lap steel is on par with him, in fact. It's one of his best solos. Well done.

It's a report, rather than a review. Graziani deserves much more.

Jail for Michael Jackson, who if he weren't incredibly wealthy would have been in a cell for years. Fantastic dancer, miserable man.

Indulgent yet passionate review. Latita Page is missing in this album, two of her beautiful ideas placed at the beginning and the end of the record, and in between, insignificant tunes.

Very well.
Level 42 Standing In The Light

The strengths of Level lie primarily in the rhythm section: watching King slap, make muted notes, and vibrate the strings with perfect timing while singing calmly with all the other accents is mind-blowing. Gould on drums is perfect as well, relaxed, precise, and full of funk. The contrast between King's warm voice, which is not exceptional but personal, and Lindup's feminine falsetto is beautiful. Additionally, the keyboard sounds, programmed by Wally Badarou, are perfect (today out of fashion, they undeniably echo the '80s). Luise is right; you need to listen to them in the albums, in those less poppy and cheesy tracks.
