Cornell, maybe people wouldn't buy his CDs anymore, but their value would remain unchanged. Caravaggio killed more than one man because of his bad temper, yet he is one of the greatest artists of all time, and his paintings are priceless. Alright, the comparison doesn't really fit, but the principle is the same. And I don't think that's up for debate.
