Everyone knows that Kubrick was only inspired by "La Sentinella" (which isn't even a novel, but a long story). He bought the rights to turn it into a film and signed a contract with Clarke, giving him permission to create an "official" book (entitled 2001: A Space Odyssey) to be published only AFTER the film's release.

Right, Nick, the grandfather scene is one of the best (I read somewhere that during filming the hammer actually hit the poor actress's head, and the blood you see there is real blood!); I haven't seen the prequel yet, but if it's like the remake, we're in bad shape... anyway, the movie had 3 official sequels, the only watchable one being the second (also directed by Tobe Hooper), which is nice but nothing more.

@Lord: the gradual decay/self-destruction of American society was primarily occurring through the Vietnam War, which in '74 (the year of the film) had already taken on the dimensions of an immense bloodbath. When the film explains that the family in question had always worked in the slaughtering field and then was left without work (progressively brutalizing) due to the mechanization of production processes, what is it if not a critique of capitalism? Anyway, thanks for the 5 on trust!

It seems to me that Salvi plays the role of the delinquent in "Fracchia La Belva Umana," but maybe you're referring to when he portrays the private investigator in a Bogart style in the fake TV show "21 Totano Road" (Megasalvishow).

I couldn't care less about Clarke's pedophilia; to me, he was and remains one of the most brilliant sci-fi writers of all time. What he does on his little island is his own business; I don’t want to condemn anyone.

Yes, Clarke is a pedophile (by his own admission) and in order to indulge this passion of his, he thought it best to move to Sri Lanka, where the raw material is abundant.
