It has been many years since my confirmation. I still remember that on that occasion, after the ceremony, all my relatives gathered at my house for a festive refreshment. I received a walkman as a gift, and a cassette. It was "MegaSalvi" by Francesco Salvi.
My dad advised me to insert that one into the walkman to avoid ruining the heads with my old over-recorded tapes. At the time, the gift thrilled me. There are eight tracks, all very silly and merry. The album contains the famous "C'è da spostare una macchina" a senseless but effective symbol of urban despair, horn included. "Esatto" participated in the Sanremo festival in 1989 and amused. The subsequent tracks like "Taxi" and "Universal love" with a techno danceable matrix, sung and gurgled in English, are unexpected and electronic. Similarly, "Son contento" which contains an interesting sampling is lively and dynamic. More relaxed ballads "Maionese" and "Le solite promesse" are nothing but funny little stories for entertainment set to music. However, the album is pleasant, not forced.
The good-naturedness and loud, boisterous humor of the Varesotto comedian, a cross between Leone di Lernia and Elio e le storie tese, albeit with very different intentions, entertain. The character, an established comedian from drive-in, reinvented himself as a singer-entertainer, achieving embarrassingly successful sales in the early years. After all, this is more of a mockery, a game, than music. One might say that it is nonsense (it never falls into vulgarity, if anything, into the absurd) of a simpleton, but in the end, I am fond of it. This first musical attempt was acceptable.
As for the subsequent ones, better to let it be. That was enough.
