John Carpenter La Cosa

@Blackdog: Is it out on DVD? In Italian? I’ve seen both the first and the second series (the first one is much better) in English with subtitles. Recommended episodes (you can find everything on the torrent): Cigarette Burns (Carpenter), Homecoming (Joe Dante), Deerwoman (John Landis), and of course the legendary Imprint by Takashi Miike.

The fact is that in all the rankings of the best sci-fi movies of all time, "The Thing" from 1951 is always in the top ten. Not true, look here IMDb: Genre: Sci-Fi Carpenter's film is in 23rd place, while Hawks' film isn't even listed.

ajeje, I don't know if you noticed, but the cast also includes Tori Spelling (the girl from Beverly Hills), and that makes me quite skeptical about the final result.

Has anyone seen "The Resurrected" (1992)? I know it's an adaptation of the story "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward," and they say it's one of the few good films based on Lovecraft, but I've never been able to find it.

Among Lovecraftian films, Dagon, a short film from 2001 by Stuart Gordon, deserves mention. A film adapted from "The Shadow Over Innsmouth" is set to be released in the US, but it will probably be the usual garbage. Cthulhu the Movie

surely one of Carpenter's best, even superior to the original. Perfect direction, a great atmosphere filled with claustrophobia and paranoia, stunning special effects, and a beautiful soundtrack. This film has everything to be considered a classic.

Disgusting and in its own way quite absurd, it is certainly a cult classic, but it didn't strike me as the masterpiece that everyone claims. The friend who showed it to me years ago (a convinced blackster) even found it "poetic" and was able to get emotional during some scenes, but as far as I'm concerned, I spent more time laughing than horrified.
The Clash Black Market Clash

excellent album, especially side B which is the result of the collaboration with the dub genius Mickey Dread. Pressure Drop is a cover of Toots & the Maytals.

I didn't know anything about it either, but the presence of the girl from Swans really intrigues me. Maybe those who want to get closer to this band could start with their latest beautiful album, Conqueror, which is more melodic and accessible than the first.
Bernardo Bertolucci Il Tè Nel Deserto

I didn't mind it at all. I agree that it's Bertolucci's last good film, since after that came Little Buddha and The Dreamers (not exactly two masterpieces).
