It's better to use stranger and less refined stuff when playing solos, for example harmonics, bending, feedback, wah-wah hiss, and fuzz, and especially pull-offs rather than hammer-ons. In short, despise tapping because it serves no purpose, burn all the scores of the bands that use it, or preferably just stick to playing rhythm.
