Antifakesimile, until the mid-nineteenth century culture was strictly elitist, at least in terms of its production. Enjoyment was virtually open to everyone, but it is inevitable that what was expressed by theater and literature in general reflected the thoughts of the "gentebene." There seems to me to be very little of the '68 activist ante litteram in Sophocles.
