Giant disc. I didn't know that White Fang was a drugged dog.

Nice review. These pieces, like many others by Mozart, don’t say anything to me. Alas, it has always been my habit to hate 3/4 of the things he did; I now think I will never heal. :-)

It's obvious that mere enjoyment in listening and insights aren't enough. But I don't understand why the music of DT seems senseless to you, nor what elements you have to say so. And anyway, I'm sorry to tell you, but in every work of art, there's a degree of self-referentiality, because the artist creates it primarily for themselves, not for others; it's dedicated to their most intimate pleasure. The fact that it also captivates others is a subsequent matter. Moreover, the pleasure of listening allows one to clearly differentiate Britney Spears from Mozart, because the enjoyment in listening is subjective and also dependent on the longevity of a piece. Listening to a great composer will give you immense pleasure that grows over time and solidifies. Listening to Britney Spears can at most provide you with a bit of entertainment for a month, then her damn disc gets shelved (assuming one has the naivety to appreciate that stuff). Music also has its own aesthetic, which depends on the harmonic beauty of the passages (this doesn’t mean it can be the sole measure of good music), and you mistakenly associate it inherently with the catchiness of pop, when that's not true. In fact, the difficulty lies in reconciling the harmonic beauty of a piece with its intricacy in content without falling into banality or cliché. I believe the DT have succeeded in this in the past.

Ah, this is the usual up-and-coming band that signed a deal with a major label to sell out to commercial music.
