Mh, generally when I play poker I don’t like having music; in silence, you can better grasp the challenge and tension of the game. However, I think cool jazz, the kind from the great trumpeters, works perfectly at a subdued volume. :)

The album sounds cold to me, arranged in an academic way and with interpretations rarely going above and beyond. I’m sorry, because I expected more, considering the quality of the originals and those who perform them.

In short, I don’t agree with all these positive reviews of an album that has a lot going on but, in the end, really few memorable songs. From this store, I’m taking home Homebreakers and the Lodgers (two great tracks to listen to endlessly because they’re so catchy), while the rest I’ll more or less leave on the shelves. If we’re talking about refinement and sophisticated melodies, people like Donald Fagen or Joe Jackson are on another planet. Still, it deserves a 6.5.

This album is truly disappointing, especially considering the caliber of the musicians involved. I must also say that if Vai is in the mix, I have the absolute guarantee that I won’t like the album. It’s a shame that inside there’s Rise, which is the most beautiful pop song of the '80s.

I didn't like the review very much; it seemed cold, a bit bland, and with rather conventional descriptions. The album is nice even though I prefer Flowers of Romance, which also has a beautiful cover (when related to the music).
