Tortoise Millions Now Living Will Never Die

In 2020, will there still be people who have the courage to discuss Scaruffi? The betting is open; I bitterly bet yes.

Hmm, I don't quite understand the connection between your impressions of the concert and the authenticity of Antolini's records. I do have an idea, though; as a singer, she's not worth much even on record (let's leave Kate Bush out of this, please), but as a composer of songs, she deserves praise. The band that accompanies her still plays under her guidelines, so I don't see why you treat them as two separate entities. And anyway, she holds her ground as a keyboardist (at least when I saw her). The latest album is deeply indebted to Jennifer Gentle.

I agree with cptgaio. The interesting part (and I have to repeat it once again) is that those who criticize Scaruffi for his judgments fail to understand that the same characteristics are common to much of international criticism. Instead, we always end up talking about Scaruffi. Come on, these discussions are becoming pathetic; if you don't understand the role of criticism, stop racking your brains trying to figure out why Scaruffi gives those ratings (which always leads to discussing those ratings, not what he says about the albums). I don't know listeners who have the truth in their pockets, especially since truth doesn't exist. The usefulness of music criticism is to provide reading codes for the history and evolution of music, using innovation, artistic progress, both in form and meaning, as the coordinates for investigation. The stupidest thing one can do is to say, "but that album I like only got a 6, while that other album I can't stand got an 8." And inevitably, we always end up with this nonsense.

"Scaruffi doesn't have 'artistic sensitivity' (quote), gives 8 to I&W. End." ------> Do you really believe in this nonsense?
Chico Buarque Construção

It’s truly a masterpiece of an album, with meticulous orchestrations and an even darker atmosphere than the usual MPB vibe. Since this is the only Buarque album I know, I humbly ask for some recommendations on other excellent albums of his to listen to. Thanx.

I like the early albums moderately; I honestly can't idolize any of them, not even the more "new wave" ones from the beginning, and Bono's voice sounds pedantic to me after a while with its ostentatious lyricism. In any case, it's always worth noting that they haven't managed to make a good album in 15 years; they can put on great shows, they can even bring aliens on stage or set off an atomic bomb backstage, but these breathtaking shows are now done by all the stars with a certain following who can charge 50000000000000 billion euros for their concert tickets, from AC/DC to Madonna, so you get the point.

But then, did Bono save the world? (my one is purely populist)

The album obviously sucks, in this you remain a guarantee.

I haven't read it, but I am moved by this unexpected and nostalgic return. I had read in the newspapers that sexyajax had died from a overdose of hallucinogenic mushrooms.
