Hell yeah!!! If Angus Young hadn’t done all those spins, he wouldn’t have hit it big at all! And I only get a 30 on my exams when I walk into the classroom with a triple somersault, dressed in a rainbow suit and wearing a crown on my head, swaying my hips and doing a lap dance on the desk.

On the contrary, I agree with the esteemed "il walter," because I don't listen to people who don't have such a shiny outfit that it blinds my retina and cornea!! You fools, how can Nick Cave be from the '80s if he didn't even have a strobe light attached to his ass? Go figure...

Walterstarman, we are all a bit ignorant, but with the comments above, you've shown yourself to be a great greyhound of ignorance, at times unreachable. And in your case, the word "ignorance" fits perfectly because you ignore. But keep it up, you're entertaining. Maybe you haven't understood that here we listen to music because we like it, not based on how many copies it sold. If I like Jennifer Gentle, a band that nobody knows, I couldn't care less, I listen to them. If I like Led Zeppelin, who everyone knows, I listen to them. You didn't forget to take your pill for tachycardia, did you?

mmmh... So walterstarman, you listen to a band that is already internationally established, a band that has already achieved a certain level of success. If that's not the case, you're not interested. Luckily, not everyone is like you; otherwise, good luck seeing an underground band become well-known if they aren't given a chance. After all, even Queen, Lennon, Bowie, and Lou Reed started from the underground. Anyway, according to your verdict, the best of now should consist of Avril Lavigne, Justin Timberlake, and The Darkness would be the most sought-after rock band. Go crash into something as a volunteer for the sewage cleaning!

I can't compare the '80s to the '70s. Sorry, but I just can't. I mean, in no particular order, the ones I listen to: Emerson Lake and Palmer, Genesis, King Crimson, Jimi Hendrix (late '60s), Doors (late '60s), Led Zeppelin, Uriah Heep, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Jefferson Airplane (late '60s), Nick Drake, Velvet Underground (late '60s), and then Lou Reed, Who (from the late '60s), Tom Waits, Black Sabbath. And I'm sure I've forgotten some of those I listen to. You just don't realize.

Sure, just like when I think of Beethoven, I picture his portrait with the messy hair. Because the human brain always associates something visual with a concept or a person. And if there were videos of Beethoven, I would remember them when I listen to his music. Which does not justify the concepts you've expressed, namely that without the look, rock wouldn't have been the same. First of all, there were the ideas, those new and devilish ideas of rock. Then the look. But much later.

I completely agree with Aniel. It's time that visibility has taken precedence over ideas. Just look at the role that MTV has taken on as a music promoter for young people. MTV is something visual. It's like when they advertise shampoo on TV. They play on the viewer's sight. MTV does the same thing, but with music. Which is a disgrace.

"What do The Who have to do with the Hippie movement?". Wake up! Look at the phrase I just roughly quoted before talking about hippies. And excuse me, BUT WHAT DO HIPPIES HAVE TO DO WITH JIMI HENDRIX?
