Oh, but look, I'm not an expert in painting or cinema either, but it's the concept that matters. The concept of art, which doesn't only mean technical ability or aesthetic beauty. And what amazes me is that you understand it in the groups of the late '60s, and not in the subsequent ones. Anyway, I assure you, punk as understood by the Sex Pistols, Bad Religion, or Damned doesn't appeal to me either.

But who produces this social distortion? Is it the boss? Or is it from Ibanez?

So, let's give it a try. Dave, do you know Picasso's paintings? Yes, of course? How about Dalì's? Okay. Caravaggio's are fine too. So, do you think Picasso created portraits that were well-made from a realistic standpoint or in terms of body proportions? No, they were absolutely anti-academic, and perhaps even aesthetically ugly. Yet Picasso is considered one of the greatest painters. The same goes for Caravaggio or Dalì, except they lean more towards pictorial virtuosity, showcasing the technical skills of the painter. And Fontana's cuts? Christ, Fontana's cuts are trivial; even a five-year-old could reproduce them. And yet. Thankfully, aesthetics and technique do not go hand in hand with an artist's journey. Otherwise, any realistic painting would be worth more than a painting by Kandinsky. Now try to transpose this discussion to music.

Dave, I just want to tell you one thing, but please don't get angry. You know many things, but your knowledge is not backed by even a minimal musical maturity. That’s what I think.

I abandon the discussion due to a lack of patience.

It's like saying that a painter just needs to draw well to make his mark in history.

Answer my question, don't evade. Does a singer only need to be in tune and have a good vocal range to be a good singer? Or is there more to it?

No, Dave, I swear. There isn't an album by Symphony X that I like. Even the beautiful compositions have become almost indigestible for me because of the singer and how they are played. Romeo has an absolutely... aseptic sound.

Oh my goodness... Is it enough for you that a singer is in tune and has a good vocal range for you to like them? Then I must be a great singer.
