Commendable is the way Degregorius demonstrates that bringing him into the world was a great mistake.

Commendable the way the exhausting phrase "pink floyd" managed to enter even a discussion about De Gregori.

I can't give these more than a 3. They seem mediocre, predictable. Sorry.

The problem with The Shining from a gender perspective, in my opinion, is that it’s not an action movie. The scenes that could truly be considered horror are two, maybe three. It feels more like a film about the psychology of fear rather than fear itself.

In fact, Stephen King was very disappointed by the Kubrickian adaptation of his book. He expected something horror-like as a result, perhaps with Kubrick's vaguely Dadaist vision, but this was not the outcome. Shining is one of my favorite films; every time I watch it, it still manages to give me chills. Everything feels so alive in this film, starting with the hotel, everything is so "shining." What struck me dramatically is the screenplay style, where every word is so cerebral, so calibrated and emphasized by the long silences that it feels like the final word before an impending apocalypse. Nicholson’s performance is chilling. The introspection of the characters is meticulous, their movements.

I believe that Kubrick liked the plot of Stephen King's "Shining" so much that he wanted to create a visual adaptation of it. However, the result is not horror at all, partly because I have the impression that Kubrick didn't follow the cinematic horror genre in the slightest. But perhaps he wanted to strike the audience on their unconscious fears, which is the only thing I can connect with certain horror. Other than that, we are quite distant.
