Well, "spectrum" and "a funky tide of things" drive me crazy, even though in the end I'm someone who prefers drummers with a more "human" and rock-oriented style. All these drum-machine processors tire me out after a while. In particular, Billy Cobham has a control of dynamics that seems like they've installed a volume limiter microchip in his brain. However, as mentioned above, his groove eventually saturates me.

easycure, perhaps you’re overreacting. The problem with what you’re saying is that the fact that everyone talks about 'this group' is already seen as a flaw by you, and it seems to me that you’re the ones bringing up uncomfortable comparisons. I mean, if in 2007 you expect there to be no references to the past, you seem a bit pretentious. As for the exercise of form, I would say I prefer to listen to a well-thought-out, well-recorded, and polished album rather than a record with a nauseating sound, at least for the context in which a band like Arcade Fire operates.

According to me, it's a great album for these times. However, the critics who said "finally something new" make me smile. I would say it's a new wave very well disguised by truly fitting and personal arrangements. 5.
