"I know 'Abbey Road' and 'SGT Pepper's' very well, but I don't consider them masterpieces. Of course, I'm not saying they were bad; on the contrary, there has always been better out there. Then again, tastes are tastes, and if they move you more than anything else, then it’s only right that you consider them the best."

Well, it won't matter, but I can see that it bothers you a lot.

In my opinion, it's the best album by the Beatles, and the highest rating I can give it is 3. The Beatles were never great composers; they never created a true musical masterpiece. For example: Queen = Bohemian Rhapsody, Led Zeppelin = Stairway to Heaven, Rolling Stones = Angie. They simply sang very simple (in some cases childish) and catchy songs without many pretensions. Moreover, the Beatles were not even excellent musicians; none of the four distinguished themselves for a remarkable skill in playing an instrument. That said, they are still part of history, but I believe this merit is largely due to the massive publicity that was done about them.

But let’s not joke, this album is good compared to the modest talent of the four band members. The Beatles never created great songs, but rather only little tunes of a maximum of 3 minutes, all catchy but rather simple, suited for an unpretentious audience, which means almost everyone. (And that’s the reason for their success.) I’d like to remind you that back then there were people with a much higher artistic profile, like Zappa - Led Zeppelin - T-Rex - Sparks - Bowie - Queen (a few years later).

a review a bit too simplistic but flowing, great album, a true milestone. I followed your discussion and I believe that the comparison with Mozart is unthinkable, two completely different things. As for "The Doors," who said they are the best ever? come on!!!

Jim, I saw your all-time personal ranking and I noticed that The Doors are first. Outrageous.
