We are in 1975 and something in music is changing, a new Queen album has just been released and promises to amaze. The album is: A Night At the Opera, and the gem is Bohemian Rhapsody - track no. 11 on the list but no. 1 in everything else.
This song, composed by the genius of Mercury, disrupts all known musical standards in no time and quickly reaches the top of almost every global chart. The reason for this huge success surely lies in its almost bizarre originality of overlaying dozens of different sounds and voices simultaneously, but perhaps the even more important reason is the presence of a music video that accompanies the song. Although it wasn't the very first music video, it is undoubtedly the most important of its era, providing the impetus for all other artists to create a new video for every hit.
Thanks to this brilliant move by the band A Night At the Opera and the Queen rightfully and deservedly enter the history of rock. But the exceptional thing is that the album is not limited to Bohemian Rhapsody alone, but every single song represents a diamond.
Indeed, with this record, Queen once again managed to craft, now in a more refined and expert manner, an original hybrid between hard rock severity and glamorous taste with Freddie Mercury's extraordinary voice and May's guitar in the spotlight.
But despite this, the Queen received much criticism regarding their actual talent, and Freddie, always reluctant in interviews, responded like this: "When someone else makes a song that approaches the spectacularity of Bohemian Rhapsody, we can talk."
Perhaps a slightly presumptuous statement, but absolutely true. Indeed, years later, Bohemian Rhapsody is considered by many, experts and non-experts alike, the greatest song of all time.
Recommended songs: (according to my personal taste)
The Prophet's Song (a kind of Bohemian Rhapsody)
Love Of My Life (wonderful song, very sweet)
Bohemian Rhapsody
You're My Best Friend (beautiful song, almost whispered by Freddie)
'39 (country song, sung by May)
Upon the first listen, you will be completely captivated by the genius of these 4 people.
This album contains the most beautiful song a human being has ever created, I am referring to Bohemian Rhapsody.
There are no adjectives to describe the ultimate rock opera!
Bohemian Rhapsody? I can’t find other words to describe it, as to understand what is being talked about one must simply listen to it.
"'A Night at the Opera' with 'Bohemian Rhapsody' is the explicit manifesto of how music escapes classifications."
"I thank God for appointing Freddie Mercury to give us the most beautiful song ever… Bohemian Rhapsody."
"'A Night at the Opera,' absolute masterpiece, an international monument to Glam Rock."
"We have listened to one of the best songs the human mind has ever written, perfect in every way... a unique and simply unforgettable experience."
The album is colorful of many genres, ranging from Scott Joplin’s Rag-Time style to powerful hard rock to psychedelic oriental melodies.
Bohemian Rhapsody musically is one of the most complex in the history of rock and represents the first example of rock opera.
