A truly disgraceful way to commemorate Freddie Mercury. There's no need to even listen to it; just look at the content. There aren't even any real rarities that justify its existence, nor a philological reorganization of the already known material, nothing that makes any sense at all. Moreover, I believe there are more posthumous collections of Freddie than the albums he released during his lifetime... that says a lot.

Despite your arguments, I believe that the comparison with Battiato's other works is unavoidable, and in any case (and I say this as a huge fan of FB) I think this otherwise excellent album does not reach the heights of other titles. A couple of tracks bring the average down.

Nice review. A superfluous album for enthusiasts, but it can be interesting for those approaching Tom Waits for the first time and having the chance to do so with a good (but not impeccable) selection from his early years.

Taylor has developed a personal and high-quality songwriting style over the years. Radio GaGa, for instance, is not a predictable track in the Queen repertoire. Just like I'm In Love With My Car, which is also a youthful composition. Innuendo (song) if I remember correctly is largely his own work, and that masterpiece, These Are The Days Of Our Lives, is definitely all his. His solo albums also prove that he knows how to write songs, indeed.

The album is overall so beautiful that you can overlook a couple of missteps. It remains one of my top 3 Queen favorites. Half a point extra for affection.
