Again... it's not a band! The The has always been just one, Matt Johnson. Even when he brought Johnny Marr in to lend a hand... always and only one.

But aside from sporadic episodes, it's a very dull electronic sound (in fact, next to “I've Been Waiting for Tomorrow” is “This is the Day”). It has nothing to do with the other names mentioned here. If anything, you could have mentioned Steroid Maximus. Now that's someone who really unsettles me.
