According to the Maya, the world will end before Christmas 2012. I seem to remember the date as December 23. But things aren't exactly like that; let's say that (more or less) astrologically, the age of Pisces will end and the age of Aquarius will begin. The precession of the equinoxes is a phenomenon that the ancient priests studied quite extensively. Basically, it refers to the constellation that appears in the east at sunrise on the first day of spring; this constellation changes roughly every 2300 years, signaling the start of a new global phase. It's strange how these stellar phenomena are reflected in religions. We have Moses, who leaves Taurus (you know the myth of the Minotaur and all the Cretan mythology? Or the fact that Moses comes down from Sinai and kills the worshippers of the golden calf?) to worship Aries. About 2000 years ago, we entered the Age of Pisces; it's curious how Christ (intentionally in lowercase) was often referred to as a fish. Nevertheless, all this has nothing to do with astrology; the precession of the equinoxes is an astronomical phenomenon that has been observed for at least 10,000 years.
