if you want arguments, I can give you plenty. Let's start with "che cosa vuoi che sia una canzone" from 1978 (if I remember correctly), an album where he seeks a more singer-songwriter approach, or we can discuss the subsequent "non siamo mica gli americani," which I acknowledge has changed direction but then he never deviated from that line again. Vasco's only merit has been to occupy a niche in the Italian market that was still free: the cursed rocker. People really took to Vasco. Others who are more cursed and more coherent (I’m still talking about Italians, and coincidentally, his name is Rossi as well) preferred to stay more borderline...

I still have to find some "beautiful" songs by Vasco… maybe more than beautiful, they are just crowd-pleasers, crafted solely to please... PS I think that since 1978 I've listened to too many of Vasco's songs; some because I bought the LPs, others because they were trendy…
