I stand by my belief that until the people are hungry, nothing will happen, but in Italy we have a centuries-old way of keeping the people bound: "panem et circenses" (if it's spelled like that).

This is where I want you; it’s useless to talk about those cheap stores that sell at low prices, besides my wife says that at the market they are the most expensive. I want to know why if I buy a pair of Adidas made in Sri Lanka or somewhere like that, I have to pay 200€ if I go into an Italian store while I pay half in other shops. The merchants have really annoyed me with their whining, claiming they always earn only 700€ a month and cry about million-dollar losses. Long live the stores where I pay 5€ for a pair of blue jeans, since they make them in the third world just like the ones that cost 100€.

SID Come on :-)) if the one who is supposed to enforce the rules is the prince of thieves, how can we expect those rules to be respected? And are we really sure we want those rules, or do we just want them for others? In January, I renovated my house; the builder (a one-man operation) invoiced me just €5,000 while the other €13,000 (thirteen thousand) was under the table. Yet, if a thief breaks into his house, he'll give a thousand speeches about legality! €13,000 under the table for a month's work for him, 10 months for me as a metalworker.

Talking about the textile sector in Prato now in 2009 seems like a complete bullshit to me. The Chinese already massacred us in textiles by the end of the '70s; I know this well because we had to either shut down or adapt to lower standards. The same thing is happening now with the mechanical engineering industry, and our entrepreneurs are light years away from the German model—quality, quality, and not just in the pieces produced. But these fools can't seem to understand, so what do they focus on? Quantity, quantity, quantity.

I am flattered by such recognition. In particular, I had the opportunity to work with Clementi during the recordings of "Lungo I Bordi," the second album by Massimo Volume. I was very sorry not to be able to do the final mixing as well: we had done a great job on the drums, and I was also encouraging Emidio towards a new way of singing, reworking his characteristic "spoken" style.
