Marco Masini T'innamorerai
Voto:
Almost perfectly in agreement with you Dexster, "almost" because I don't see traces of blues and because Masini doesn't seem like an exceptional musician to me... however, he is definitely one of our best singer-songwriters, I won't go beyond in my judgment because otherwise (spelling mistakes aside, but can't you pay a bit more attention?? :-) ) it perfectly aligns with yours. Songs like "Vaffanculo" and "T'Innamorerai" have made history in Italian music (and this cannot be denied) and carry a unique emotional charge. But this applies a bit to all the tracks on this album, great voice, great songs. Perhaps the production is a bit too heavy, don’t you think? In short, it's overwhelming with strings, choirs, and keyboards... I went to see him 6 or 7 years ago, when he was still treated like a pariah, and many of these songs were reinterpreted with a more rock-singer-songwriter style and less pop music, I must say with surprising results.

Oh my God, I wouldn't say that Verdena sounds amazing... they are a good band, which in itself is not little, but nothing more.

In the group, I don't see anything special at all; I find them incredibly boring and their creativity is nearly non-existent. After all, in fifteen years of artistic life, they've released five albums with this one. The first ones, especially AEnima, had something good to offer; the rest has just been a mindless rehash of the clichés that made them famous with the general public. And they've often missed the mark, like in this case. As for the review: what happened to the rules of writing? Who knows, if there are rules, why not at least try to respect them?

Well, they have passion to spare, I can say that because I know them through a mutual acquaintance. However, the music they make honestly doesn't appeal to me, but as a band, they are certainly not to be underestimated. Great review.

Eh eh Grasshopper, this time you beat me to it... great move, the album is fantastic, but in my opinion, it doesn't have the immediacy of the debut nor the genius of Darwin, although there are absolute masterpieces like Dopo...niente è più lo stesso (exhilarating and moving at the same time) and La Città sottile. Here everything is extreme, from the long jazz-fusion-like instrumental sections to the structure of the songs, so the album feels (at least to me) a bit too challenging.

Anyway, the album is very interesting; it's worth listening to. Of course, the greats of blues are others in my opinion, but good music is good music.

Great review, fantastic album from the way you talk about it. The fact that Smith and Frusciante are playing on it convinced me to give it a listen, it must be a blast.

But I haven't heard anyone sing like LaBrie does on this album.

Ah the album… in my opinion, you've been a bit too lenient in your judgments; it's just too flat of a work to achieve a passing mark.

I don’t know if you remember, I ended up listening to Kiss... I have to say I expected a completely different sound, I was surprised, even though it’s not my genre. A kiss (if I’m allowed... :-) )
