Vasco Rossi Non Siamo Mica Gli Americani

Uhm, I don’t know... good review, but for me "Un Senso" is a beautiful song (one of the few by Vasco Rossi in recent years).

Maybe now yes, but once upon a time... Come on, let's not undermine Van Morrison too! :-)

And then there's always the magic word: COMPROMISE, a word that I believe is unjustly despised.

Then there are also the geniuses who go unrecognized and are forced to starve (in popular music, I think of the great Nick Drake) only to be reevaluated after their deaths (what an injustice..), but in my opinion, that's the exception, not the rule.

Vade retro Festwca, at this point I must ask you what you mean by great artist, because it doesn't seem to me that throughout the history of popular music there have been groups greater than Led Zeppelin, with the sole exception of Pink Floyd when analyzing the entire discography.
Of course, if by great artist in the musical field you mean the typical avant-garde musician, ignored and despised by everyone to the point of being unable to make either records or concerts around the world, then I totally agree with you. For example, there is a duo for which a review of mine will be coming out in a few days, who play around the world offering a mix of jazz-fusion and classical repertoire. Recently they also released a wonderful album that, okay, may not be on everyone’s lips, won’t make them millionaires, but certainly, combined with the proceeds from their concert activity, allows them a life that is more than financially comfortable. In short, it is possible to live off music if one has genuine talent; maybe you won't reach the fame or the millions of the stars, but you can make it work.

You are facing an issue that, if you think about it, is fundamentally of little interest for the purely musical discussion. After all, the only thing that matters is whether a band makes music you like or not; whether they do it for money or to follow the fire of art honestly doesn't concern me much, especially since, as led&zep rightly pointed out, everyone who wants to live off music does so with the primary aim of selling. That said, there is music and there is Music.

Yes, the review is very well written and expressive. It’s long but very easy to read, congratulations. Indeed, you made me reflect on a certain puritanical and fundamentalist way of seeing music, according to which there is the "right" music and then there is trash. So when a group of five guys comes out making light and carefree music, without the pretense of being legends or changing the history of music, immediately people turn against them. Their pop certainly has very marked features of originality; I mean, it’s not the usual stuff, the singer has a distinctive voice, and there are also interesting musical ideas. Of course, all the airs the singer puts on are really not justified; they show a certain arrogance and conceit that have no reason to be, after listening to their music. You mentioned this point above as well, which means I’m not the only one who has noticed it.

The review is good but I didn't understand what you meant in the second paragraph. More than anything, I didn't grasp what you meant by consistency. They have never made me laugh, smile, reflect, or anything, perhaps because I belong to another generation... In fact, they rather irritate me...

As far as the album is concerned, I fully agree with Viva lì, who should be the trash alter ego of Marco Poletti if I understood correctly (I would like the interested party to clarify why resorting to such a device...). Certainly, two is a bit too few considering that the two mentioned tracks are simply legendary and alone are worth at least a passing grade for the album. The review is well-written, though.
