Thank goodness Electric apricoat has nothing to do with Mel Giboson. I liked your review, Hal, and the Claypool pieces are great. I don’t know enough to give a rating, but based on trust...

The Carl Stalling Project Music From Warner Bros. Cartoons 1936/1958

Since you mentioned them, I wanted to tell you that I've heard something about Strapping Young Lad: look, I exhausted my metal phase at eighteen and I can’t stand those screams, the always distorted guitars, not to mention the musicians' constantly angry poses anymore. If that weren't the case, Strapping... could become my favorite band. Again, hi.

I would say Fred Frith, former member of Henry Cow, is a constant fixation of mine. The reference to Frank Zappa fits perfectly too. Frank scored some crazy animated films by a guy named Bruce Bickford, later compiled in the video "The amazing Mr. Bickford." Clips from those films can also be found in "Baby Snakes" and the bootleg video "A token of his extreme." Bye.
Paolo Angeli 5 Questions

Hey Hal, do you remember our digressions that started with Elvis Costello and passed through Ute Lemper and Brecht? Well, I was here browsing through your reviews and stumbled upon this beautiful interview, not knowing Paolo Angeli, and what do I read? That this intelligent musician plays with Fred Frith, former guitarist of Henry Cow, a band from the seventies that made the album I recommended with Slapp Happy. Now, aside from the fact that I’ll have to look for something by these two, if Paolo Angeli were to play with Elvis Costello, the circle of our digressions would close perfectly. Bye.

Dear Third Eye, I followed your advice and managed to get the record the way you suggested. Aside from a bit of disappointment regarding the quality of the recordings (but it couldn’t be otherwise given the time that has passed), I can confirm everything you said. One small note: you rightly define Stalling as an avant-gardist; well, the avant-garde is extremely enjoyable when accompanied by a strong sense of humor. Too bad it’s not always like that… Bye!

Oren Ambarchi Grapes From The Estate

It’s true, it’s not metal; I had read the first four lines and thought of a return to metal on the part of the reviewer after further listens. To be honest, I didn’t quite understand what kind of music this Oren Ambarchi was making in the following lines. The last paragraph enlightened me. I prefer the zenith straight. ;)

I almost forgot to tell you the title: "desperate straight". You'll find it on a cd that also includes "Casablanca moon". "Desperate..." is the Zappaweillian mix, while "Casablanca..." is a beautiful pop album. Again, bye.
