""The Master" deals with the post-war struggles of an alcoholic ex-soldier in the post-World War II era. The inability to adapt to civilian life." ---> Yes, of course, but what Freddie Quell really lacks is the Pheeeega. :-) That's why he behaves strangely and drinks those potions. Lambert Dodd fills his void in some way, even if Freddie clearly perceives the stupidity of the guru. A guru who also seems to have his own heart problems, considering that he is somehow a slave to his wife (see masturbation scene). In short, the underlying problem is as old as the world: the unresolved relationship between young men and young women. Without wanting to give away more details to those who haven't seen the film yet, I'll just say that, in my opinion, the love/hate relationship between master and disciple eventually ceases; it doesn't last until the end as you say—someone breaks free, but I won't say who. Oh, sure, some scenes are quite irritating, for example, the ridiculously stupid "applications" that Lambert subjects Freddie to. The stupidity of the characters is brilliantly conveyed by the actors and by Anderson's own dialogues, and it is also quite disturbing. However, some images are very powerful, and when Lambert digs up his manuscript, I literally burst out laughing... Overall, I actually liked the film.

Maybe it's off-topic, but "public service" has become a tremendous drag.

My brother bought the 33 RPM... I think he still has it. But the cover is different. We wore out the first track, the rest who knows how it was... Bye Mò.

The issue of the exchange rate of 1 € = 1 L has certainly been a problem, but it's old news. Leaving the euro wouldn’t mean going back to the old lira (1 € = about 1900 L); a new currency would be created that could be called Lira, Fiorino, or Nabuccodonosor and would have a one-to-one exchange rate with the euro, then it would devalue. A small clarification: leaving and devaluing wouldn’t be a magic wand effect, but it would do us a lot of good, of course according to what Bagnai says...

Thanks to the few attendees... Of course, the number of comments indicates that the issue of the crisis is very much felt on deb. :-) But it’s always good to see the glass half full: at least there are no Piddini or Luogocomunisti, which shows that the site is in good health. :-) Hello to all three of you.

"Forget the Salgueiro attitudes of Madredeus singing as if only she (the voice) had it." ---> Come on. :-) Anyway, there's a missing little Portuguese guitar (like in Madredeus).

Nice review, even if this music sucks... The last paragraph makes me think of the theses of Peter Duesberg, Kary Mullis, etc. Anyway, well done!

Yes, American series are very well made, but (watch out, I'm about to discover hot water) they have a congenital flaw: serialization. For example, the third season of "Boardwalk Empire" seems like a bit of a drag to me...

"Citizen Kane" is the revised and corrected biography of William Randolph Hearst. In other words, C.F. Kane = W.R. Hearst. Perhaps it deserved a small mention...
