Queen A Night At The Opera
Voto:
Great album, but in my opinion, it can't go beyond a 4. "Bohemian Rhapsody" is really overplayed and unfortunately, it ends up being more and more tiresome with each (yet another!) listen... also coming off as quite cloying. - By far better, perhaps the best on the album, is the simple and spontaneous "Sweet Lady." Excellent too are the theatrical "Death On Two Legs" and the enjoyable "You're My Best Friend"... I repeat, overall a solid 4 is fair. Do the ultra-pompous arrangements serve to cover some shortcomings? I think so... definitely better than "Queen II."

Shoot, a more concise but effective review than usual. From how you describe this album, though... well, it doesn't seem overly inviting! I might check out a few songs just out of curiosity! Do you think it's really worth it?

I also add my generous comment: Excellent review for a truly well-made album. It is no coincidence that it is said that it should have been the 2nd LP of "In The Wake Of Poseidon"... then the two went away and took (rightly so!) their material with them...

I really like this album... and quite a lot! It's certainly very far from the sounds of the original Sabbath, but despite everything, I think it's an excellent hard rock product. The title track is spectacular and exciting (with a masterful Gillan on vocals!), and "Keep It Warm" follows closely behind. "Trashed" and "Zero The Hero" are also very nice. Too bad about the terrible production, but oh well...

Overall nice, but a bit flat... I'm going to retrieve the comment I left on the other version of "Live Over Europe": { Overall, not bad this live, even though we are not at the highest levels. Great rescues from "Duke," an album I've always considered excellent; the version of "Land Of Confusion" is also enjoyable and surpasses the lackluster original version. I find the versions of "Ripples," "Los Endos," and "Carpet Crawlers" excellent... strangely, especially for a Genesis concert, the drums/percussion section seems quite tired and flat (see, for example, "In The Cage") } --- I reaffirm the pass!

Great album, it takes your breath away! Maximum score and praise...

I know little about her career: I only have a few songs, the most famous ones... so I don't feel like making a judgment. Anyway, one thing is for sure... her voice is nothing short of amazing!
