Black Rebel Motorcycle Club Howl
Voto:
I appreciate an album for the emotions it manages to convey to me, and this one communicates quite a few, with honesty, without frills or trendy choices.

Fundamental, instead... it's going great. The kids are really going for it. And then, excuse me, but don't you think that "Promise" is pretty Beatles-esque too?

I approached the album without any preconceived notions and found it well-made, well-played and arranged, fresh and dynamic. A slightly haphazard review, but one I agree with. They are a great band, and seeing them reinvigorated brings me a lot of comfort. "L'uomo sogna di volare" was lacking in energy, but now it seems they've found the right direction. To me, it reminds me of The Clash phase between Sandinista and Combat Rock, in addition to Mano Negra.. patchanka to the max.

Dear Lesto, I really like your review and I appreciate the fact that you don't write, like many do, on the wave of "I like it because everyone else does, regardless," like many reviews we read in "specialized" magazines. However, I think you have been a bit too hasty in this case. I too listened to the album with a certain critical sense, keeping the mitral valves of my heart open, and I must say that it seems to me an honest work that surprised me coming from a mainstream group like theirs. The last albums, those were truly embarrassing to the point of being unbelievable, played on top of each other, bland, without nerve or substance, aside from a few weak flashes. In this album, I find references to "Achtung baby" and also to that experimental album featuring, among others, Miss Sarajevo and music written for the films of Wenders/Antonioni, it sounds like nothing I've ever heard before, my dear The Edge. But I don't mind at all, really...
Steve Vai Real Illusions: Reflections

Culture? Yes, it’s undeniable that a guitarist who wants to reach certain levels cannot ignore the likes of Vai, Satriani, Petrucci, etc., but seeing what excitable types they are really takes away your desire.
Vinicio Capossela Da solo
Voto:
Album purchased yesterday. Going by feelings, it's an album that spreads warmth and moments for oneself, caresses. It feels like home with the smell of closeness, and mismatched socks, for example, perfectly capture the idea. It's a rediscovery, a starting over from oneself while also finding glimpses of joy (A Perfect Day), rearranging and pulling out the party dress smelling of mothballs from the closet. The ethereal instruments still evoke sounds of home—pots and dishes, plates and cutlery. There’s no need for lofty flights of fancy to discover Vinicio’s poetry; to summarize his words, one only needs to reflect on the feel of a warm and enveloping slipper waiting impatiently while we return from a long, cold, and tiring day. The world can wait; I’ll heat up some water, dim the lights, toss aside the remote, and turn on the stereo: "..only then can you find the giant and the wizard."

I share Analogue's comment. The album is not straightforward; each track has a different structure and a unique blend of classical or experimental gestation, however one may define it. Capossela is an artist with a multifaceted expressiveness that delivers surprises, a journey that has achieved maturity and substance from the first album as a disciple of Conte to the last. We have certainly covered a lot of ground along the way.

Beautiful review, it almost feels like seeing the Calexico driving through the desert, and then the brilliant flash of Neruda's poetry... the proof that writing an article can be a form of artistic expression.
I don't mind the album, contrary to what many have written.

I got my hands on the DVD "The Forever Changes Concert." It's a live performance at the Royal Festival Hall in London. There’s an immense emotion in seeing Arthur Lee again and absolute pleasure in listening to the perfect reproduction of all the musicians, including the brass and strings. I recommend this DVD, released by Snapper Music, to all debaseriani and non.
