Indeed, there's a difference between "innovating" and "synthesizing": they are two things that exclude each other...the Huskers (and other bands from the 80s) introduced innovations; Nirvana synthesized them by also drawing from the 60s and 70s..."According to some, Nirvana introduced melody into a genre that is not very communicative" <<< I don't understand: what would that non-communicative genre be?

Regarding grunge, I have probably mentioned it several times in other reviews on this site: for me, there are various common elements among the different groups of the Seattle scene (from the revival of the song form, excluding Melvins, to the coexistence of indie/hc/noise legacies and references to the hard/garage/songwriter tradition...not to mention the underlying mood)...I refer you to my review of the Fastbacks, where I talk about this specifically...

No, Alessio, for me emocore means Rites of Spring, Embrace, Fugazi, Drive Like Jehu, Nation of Ulysses, maybe even Squirrel Bait...

Well of course, all music is emotional in some way... but emocore could stand for "hardcore played in an EMOTIONAL way"... I mean, frantic, convulsive, spasmodic, twisted, I don't know, something like that... old-school is more linear...

Alessio, emocore isn't bullshit: it really exists... do you know Embrace?

Fest, I do believe in the history of the synthesis a bit...(of course, it refers to the rock bass-guitar-drums, made of songs...rock in the strict sense, in short)

What perplexes me is that these talks come from you, who, as a lover of prog and a hater of punk, should have a soft spot for precise execution...
