Here, these are the reviews I like because they can spark debates...the initial "outburst" about the abominable proliferation of labels generally resonates with me, although I don't agree that lo-fi can mean everything or nothing...the term indie is much more generic...lo-fi indicates music that is not well produced in terms of sound and arrangements (this would exclude a lot of polished rock, as well as much of electronic music, but not all)...on the other hand, I fully agree with this phrase: "as if (the poverty of means) presupposed a richness of outcomes that is by no means taken for granted"...I think of the Beat Happening (and here trell will kill me), the father group of lo-fi pop, technically inept, two chords and done, off-key voices (and I'm okay with that), but terribly banal from a compositional standpoint and bland from an interpretive one (but beware: I'm only referring to Jamboree, got it trell? wait before you take me out!)...same goes for some tracks by the Urinals...as for the instability of atmospheres, I believe it depends on perception: some see it as dispersion and others as eclecticism...

Electrelane No Shouts, No Calls

kraut...maybe I like them...
The Lords of the New Church Killer Lords

commendable retrieval... not having particularly loved the Dead Boys, I've never been intrigued by these Lords... however, your review might even change my mind... if I understood correctly, it was a more horror (more "80s") Bators with the Lords compared to the one with the Dead Boys... right?
Violent Femmes Violent Femmes

but really...
Lost Sounds Future Touch

metal and flesh, electronics and rock, suicide and plasmatics... they intrigue me too...

If they resemble gun club and gallon drunk, it's unlikely they'll drive me crazy, but I generally trust Australians, so I'll give them a listen.
