What an awesome review! When I’m able to write reviews of this caliber, I’ll be able to die in peace. :-)

Perfect review. The album is a true nightmare, as poor harmonically as it is rich expressively. I find it hard to listen to often, because it fills me with anguish. Suitable for gloomy days. The scream of Frankie Teardrop shocks me every time (the second part of the song is beautiful, when, amidst the clamor, one seems to glimpse in the distance echoes of sax and violins: an inspired musical rendition of the concept of dreaminess). It's an album that demonstrates how American new wave (especially that from NY) has often been a transfiguration of "good old rock'n'roll"… The Suicide used electronics, the Cramps two guitars and a drum, Patti Smith and Richard Hell the classic blues-rock instrumentation: the results were vastly different, but the foundation was always pure rock'n'roll.

I have "Music in a doll's house", really a beautiful album, very Genesis-like, a sort of miniature prog. Congratulations on the review.

I picked it up again this afternoon...there’s no denying it: the first four tracks alone are enough to secure a place in the history of rock that's worth noting. The rest is just a bonus (which is always nice...) :-) I have a soft spot for all those one-guitar bands that mainly play live and, without resorting to solos or assorted virtuosic displays, know how to highlight each instrument beautifully. Do you know the Minutemen? Well, bands like those...

You hit the nail on the head. I honestly believe that if Pet Sounds, Forever Changes, Sgt. Pepper, and Something/Anything are pop, then TTMBS is post-pop: that is to say, a reflection on pop. No longer pop songs, but theorems about pop songs. No more catharsis, but analysis. No more heart, but brain. Much like Brecht's political theater, this album is grounded in the technique of estrangement. A precedent might be Zappa, but Eno has a more scientific, more clinical, more "alien" approach. A fundamental and underappreciated album.

Maybe it's better to resolve these disputes in chat, so as not to further clutter this page. (preferably before the Griffins start!) :-D

Lexus, among my concerns is also the fact that Debaser is a nice place to navigate (since I come here every day)... And it seems evident to me that calling a stranger a "slut" in such a gratuitous manner only worsens the livability of the site: there are already plenty of reasons to argue, I really don't see the need to make up new ones out of nowhere... Apologize to Ashanti!

Ash, let it go: he has all the hallmarks of a troll who can't find anything better to do than fabricate excuses to argue.
