It's great to start from rock to arrive at philosophy! It means that rock is a serious and important thing... What is grunge? Simple: the DEFINITIVE rock song. Garage & Hard-rock % Punk & Hardcore & Singer-songwriter & Noise & Indie & Dark: all of this (IN VARYING DOSES!) can be found in Mudhoney, Melvins, Soundgarden, Nirvana, PJ, AIC... Isn't it magnificent? :-)

Ah, Antmo: I eat with the chickens, like a real pretazzo! Anyway, if you want to combine the emotions of the Huskers (which I imagine you like) with the backbone of classic rock, you must definitely like the Mats... Thanks also to Jory and Ashanti for the compliments: yes, it's a rather quirky theory about the tetrad of introspective-adolescent rockers; I hope I've demonstrated it with sufficient clarity :-)

hihihi...funny Trell...by the way, where's the Regular??? Haven't seen them yet...Anyway, Trell, months ago you knifed me with "Thirteen" by Big Star, then in chat it was "Book of Saturday" by KC, and now you give me the final blow with "Kiss me on the bus"! Do you only know gut-wrenching lyrics??? ;-)

I say they were immense, antmo! :-D Very different from the Mats, more difficult, less likable, noisier, more experimental, more "emo," more neurotic... There would be many other things to say, but the pasta is ready... See you later!

"The peaks shouldn’t be touched with punk-rock; rather with hard rock or psychedelic ballads, but not with punk-rock." <<< I didn't get it, can you explain it to me? :-) Anyway, great review, deep and detailed.

This is my longest review (and writing it was particularly laborious)... I hope it doesn't come off as too lengthy... I can't say if Tim changed my life or not, but it's definitely an album that has stayed close to my heart (it was clear... :-D)... With "Let it be," it's a tough battle! (it's not easy to compete with Westerberg screaming "We don't wanna know! Seen you videooooooooooo") I’ve wrecked it, I've listened to this album countless times... oh, it never bores me! Kosmo, rediscover them! (it's never too late!)

Nice review. I'm not familiar with the album in question, but Rollins is certainly one of the charismatic leaders of American alternative rock. We will have the chance to discuss it in depth when I review "Hot Animal Machine," which has little to do with metal, because at that time Rollins was still doing hardcore/noise. By the way, is the guitarist of "Come in and burn" still the talented Haskett?
