Chrome Alien Soundtracks

Well... you know what I think? To me, this Alien ST is, more or less, on par with the praised Half Machine, maybe just a bit more blurred, a bit more psychedelic, a bit more extravagant... The review is nice, I particularly like the discussions about Cronenberg and expressions like "stink of recombinant DNA," "cubist surgery," "indecipherable life forms," which effectively convey the idea of music that is hard to define, like that of Chrome... a music, that is, where all certainties (even physical, even material) collapse, where everything loses its original function: it can happen, for example, that the drums are not used to impart rhythm to the tracks, but are relegated to the background, overshadowed by electronic interference or a sampled voice... The forms of traditional rock are literally smashed! That's why the only thing I don't agree with in the review is this: "granite riffs, instrumental storms, almost acoustic interludes, without ever lacking a driving rhythm that makes everything perversely danceable." I believe that while the Ubu and Devo are "danceable," Chrome denies this possibility, precisely because the musical fabric in their tracks is literally devastated... However, indispensable, 20 years ahead of their time: the Vampire Rodents will remember this...

Who knows why all the sarcastic comments come from anonymous users? "Any group is the ultimate representative of this or that musical genre." <<< we have a serious candidate for the special jury prize for the "Bullshit of the Year" (2006 Edition) :-DDD

But shame on you for putting so much weight on the ratings! What does it change for you if your favorite album gets a 4 instead of a 5? It's ridiculous to get worked up over scores. But read the reviews and comments, those really matter! The ratings are given just for the sake of completeness. And let's hear it: which "hardcore rock and roll bands from the late 70s to the early 80s that are certainly not amazing" would I have given a 5 to? A chamomile for the gentleman with the penis, please. :-D

Thank you for the comments. :-) @ Kosmo and Trell: yes, I should have spent a few more words on Mark E. Smith: criticism accepted. Bye!

Sure, from a sad... lonely... and suicidal drunk. I listened to it this summer at a rest stop, on my way back from vacation: I was sober. Maybe that's why I wrote that thing. Impressions are often distorted by personal experiences. Who knows, if I had listened to it on another occasion, I probably would have formed a different idea. (Anyway, I already knew it)

Trell, if you listen to The Saddest Song while drunk, you'll throw yourself into the Tiber... Be careful... ;-)

"I Have the Dick", now the comparisons between Foetus and Reznor are called "mental wanks"?? I didn't know that... But since when??

Oh no, darling! I absolutely love Morphine!!! They have nothing pretentious about them. They're sober like an alcohol-free evening.

Well... In Rodan I sense a bit of technicalities for their own sake... Or rather, more than technicalities, too many, far too many instrumental musings...
