but also slower compared to old-school hc, apart from Creeps... I think the production was good: it was the songs that were intentionally more "calm" (and the singing more conversational) compared to the rest of the scene... I have always seen the Social Distortion of the first album almost as a punk77 band dropped right into the sweltering (in every sense) Orange County of the 80s...

Honestly, I abandoned Mike Ness (one of the most overhyped fruits, unfortunately, from Orange County) pretty early on. After the first album, basically... which had 2 or 3 interesting tracks (especially the masterpiece "It wasn't a pretty picture"), but the rest didn't appeal to me much, neither the sound nor the style of the songs, which compared to the rest of the scene at that time was too derivative of English punk. Nothing to do with the cannon shots of other anti-heroes from OC, like the great Rikk Agnew from Adolescents and D.I., or the inventions of the eclectic Agent Orange, or the dark-core of the very early Christian Death (still with Agnew) and the wild TSOL...

GLF has escaped from lung cancer (the cancer that leaves the least chance of surviving, with an extremely high mortality rate): it's understandable that, in some way, he felt "miraculous" and discovered Faith... however, he has never turned against science... unfortunately, many hate GLF for his conversion and for this reason no longer listen to his albums from the 80s: NO COMMENT... it means being unable to distinguish the difference between the work and the author, the artist and the man... in this sense, I endorse the comments of Lob, Drunky, Korrea, Gnagnera (who rightly emphasizes the self-ironic component), Kaczynski... I see that there is a lot of tolerance and intelligence here... unfortunately, if you take a tour of other sites, you can only read tons of crap dumped on CCCP and Ferretti... with plenty of slander! It’s the obtuseness of the old-school leoncavallino that unfortunately clouds the conscience... the other day I listened once again to Affinità/Divergenze, a vivid and vibrant fresco of the historical-social context of the 80s, between local dimension and Europe, punk and new-wave, public and private, bitterness and irony... a masterpiece... blessed are those who were teenagers in the 80s, living through the best period of alternative music...

Well, let's say my point was a bit more general, regarding the fact that while many bands perform better live, some others are more suited for listening with headphones, at home alone, with the lights off: the MV are among these, especially when it comes to the vocal part... As for the rest, yesterday the acoustics at Bloom were good...

saw them yesterday at Bloom in Mezzago... a great live, definitely... same setlist displayed on this page: the first hour with tracks from the new album, Cattive Abitudini, then a double encore with the "classics" from the 90s... I agree with mementomori's comment: there is indeed a notable difference between the tracks from Lungo I Bordi and those from Cattive Abitudini, and undoubtedly a precarious acoustic setup doesn’t highlight the harmonic nuances of the instrumental section, nor the clarity of Clementi's declamations... moreover, it seems to me that Clementi's vocal timbre has become rougher, probably strained by the live acoustics... very engaged audience, both with the old songs and the new ones... it would have been the top if they had also played Per Farcela, Meglio di uno specchio, Pizza Express (a masterpiece of noir music)... regarding the new album, it’s true that some songs do not stand out particularly from the post-rock melting pot of the current Italian scene (especially since MV were pioneers of it 20 years ago)... I especially liked Coney Island ("il lamento del Tempo"), Mi piacerebbe ogni tanto averti qui ("...nella tua arida notte che un giorno sarà la mia"), Fausto ("Scuoti i tuoi angeli drogati")... It seems to me that in the new album, the anguish of the 90s tracks is replaced by a convulsive feeling, a mix of imploded anger, desperate survival, resignation, melancholy, languor, even touching on the theme of death (in the piece dedicated to his father)... a partially autobiographical reflection by Clementi on his life, his experience, his "old age"...

Alice Cooper Muscle Of Love

Well, let's say that my favorites by Alice remain Easy Action and Love It To Death... I prefer Alice Cooper when he offers immediate and captivating rock, with a hint of bitterness, like in "18"... while the "rock opera" aspect has never really caught my attention, not even in the renowned "Welcome to my nightmare"... I remember this "Muscle of Love" as a hard-glam album with a couple of good tracks, but I should give it another listen...
