Ah, I see... well, for me it's impossible to compare the Wipers with Flipper; they are two very different bands from one another, both influential in the following years... I believe the Wipers influenced the more fragile, more "indie," more lyrical side of grunge, while Flipper impacted the more oppressive, more claustrophobic, more "noise" aspect... after all, grunge has been somewhat of a synthesis of many rock styles (especially from the 80s): obviously, Wipers and Flipper alone do not encompass the range of bands that paved the way for Cobain & Co.
